I don't think it will because people are way too complex for something so simple to heal the world. It is a wonderful idea, and I'll be surprised if it works. There is a possibility that between the individual person that is ivolved it may have an effect, though as a community, I feel people don't have much of a choice. This is an honorable change, and for a "healed" world, free of war and disaster, the small things that occur are the ones that can lead to a major change.
I think that it is human nature to attack and defend, and that the olympics were a great outlet, because you could strive to be stronger, faster, etc., without killing anyone (usually).
i think athletics can bring people together and show that they can work together as a team, but they let the competition get the best of them and so arguments and disagreements start and ruin that peace that they started with.
I think athletics are a great way to unite people and bring peace. Although a simple game of soccer or football might not unite nations on every leval, having fun together is a great way to start spreading the peace and finding common ground! Although there might be disagreements in the game, and in life, i dont realy think that one little dissagrement is enought to end EVERY shread of peace between the two sides!
I don't think that the Olympics can bring out absolute peace between countries, but it can inspire peace through friendly competition, specifically in countries that take sports very seriously.
I think that it might bring peace because once you think about it, fighting can be solved by olympic sports. The Romans can get out all their anger and frustration and just concentrate on competing to win. They aren't thinking about anything else, but they are actually thinking the same thing making them come together. When two people hate each other but come together and share similar interests then it could definitely help the fix some of the problems between them. But then there is also the factor that the roman's could start holding grudges on the winners of the olympics.
Athletic events may be able to sow the seeds of peace between nations, but no better then any other event where people join together. Sports bring people together and that is how they help peace, but the same result could be achieved through the arts. So sports help peace but they are not the only activity that can do that.
I believe that athletics can bring peace between nations because they allow people to compete in a non-violent way and also it will strengthen the bonds between nations because they are playing a game with eachother. Also, It will strengthen the bonds between team mates because they are working together. Athletics can help promote peace, internationally, nationally, and locally.
I think that athletic competion can create peace among nations, but only to a certain degree. It may bring peace for a while, but its only a matter of time before the nations find something else to disagree upon and the peace is ended.
im not sure that sports can really bring a nation together because if they could i dont see why they have not yet ? i mean anthletic assemblies can bring people together on a daily bases in minor situations. or for one day one goal for example is made specifically to make peace. which i think is a brilliant idea. but like a patriots football game or celtics basketball game would not be able to sow together the seeds for peace in a nation.
Yes I do think so. The olympics are really the one time where all the nations get together in one place for the same reason. Not to fight, Not to discuss politics or the next nation wide crisis. But for athletics and the Olympics are a huge deal. I mean, sure, were competeing against other countries to be the best but its always going to be that way. I think peace can come out of the Olympic Games.
I think that athletic competition can sow the seeds of peace among nations. Athletics is a great way to compete without war. Athough people could die in some of the Olympic Games, many more people would die in a war. Plus, with the olympics, peoples homes were safe, unlike in a war where peoples homes and town can be destroyed by battle.
No, I don't think that athletic competition can sow the seed of peace among nations. Nations don't call wars on eachother because of one nation's long term grudge over the other nation's constant World Cup victories. Countries are going to war because of issues they're having with other countries that are keeping them from prevailing to where they want to be. So how can one game of basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, canadian curling, hockey, ect. (out of the billions we've already played), is all of a sudden going to make countries forget about their own needs and stop fighting with one another? The game may be fun, but at the end, neither countries get what they want to keep their weapons down.
Yes, I do think athletic competition can sow the seed of peace among nations. I think this because athletic competitions involves agreement, and if both parties can cooperate in that. Then there could be peace among nations.
Olympics brought diverse cultures together in one common goal. To win. this threw all other politics out and left it up do individual power to bring pride to that country.

ReplyDeleteI dont think it would work. because then people
ReplyDeletewould start fighting about who won the competian
I think athletics will get people together and find common ground but disagreements will wreck the common ground.

ReplyDeleteit can because we come together just to have fun. not to hurt each other, not to fight, but just to have fun
ReplyDeletei think it can sometimes because everybody is coming together and doing the things they love to do. in most of the Olympics they didn't fight.
ReplyDeletei think it would because it gives a nation time to show the other nation some peace and try to resolve their fighting
ReplyDeleteI think it does create peace because all the countries are getting together in a none violent way, and it's like a friendly competion compared to war.
