Weekend assignment.
Your assignment for over the weekend is to consider exactly what you want to get out this course and answer the following question as a comment to this blog:
What is one thing you would like to learn from this course?
I would like to learn Roman history because i find that interesting, and also i'd like to learn enough latin to allow me to understand the meaning of most words.
I want to learn the basics of latin so that when i continue on it won't be as much of a struggle. Also I would love to learn more of the history of the language as well as to strongly support my opinions.
I would want to learn more about why the roman's thought about their culture the way they did. They worshiped a lot of gods and goddesses so I want to know more about how this all came to be.Also, I want to practice translating sentences because the more you do them I have realized the easier they become and also the easier it is to memorize latin words.
One thing that I would love to learn is how Latin words make up some of the words that we use, and other languages. Also, just being able to write or decipher Latin would be pretty cool.
One thing I would like to learn from this course is the ability to understand the basics of latin. This could help my knowledge of the English language as well.
One thing i'd like to learn this year in Latin is the history of the language. I'd like to know how it turned to a dead language, and how other languages came out of it.
I would not only like to learn about the language itself but about Roman culture. I am also interrested to see how this language branched out into some of the most popular languages in the modern world.
I would like to learn how it became from a language that so many people spoke, to now only being seen in the roots of words for many different languages.
I would like to learn mainly two things this year in Latin. I want to know how Latin was created and brought up to be known by so many in the past. I also want to learn how such a language is rarely spoken presently.
